Our 10&U and 14&U boys' teams have had fixtures recently.
On 11th May, our 14&U Boys, Tristan and AJay, played a home tie against Painswick in the Gloucestershire LTA Youth League. The boys battled very well in the singles matches. AJay started confidently and took the first set 6-4. Tristan played well but couldn't capitalise on his opportunities and lost his set 6-0. Unfortunately, both boys came up short in their second sets, finishing with defeats but learning a lot from the experience. The doubles match was enjoyable to watch, with the boys showing excellent teamwork and togetherness.
On 25th May, our 10&U team, consisting of Tabitha and Erin, visited East Glos for a fixture in the Gloucestershire LTA Youth League. It was a lovely afternoon for tennis. The singles matches were incredibly close. Erin had an epic match, with both sets going to tie-breaks and being decided by just two points. Despite the outcome, Erin was pleased with her performance. Tabitha started the set with great intensity, hitting the ball hard but making many errors. After losing the set 4-1, she adjusted her approach, playing longer rallies and waiting for her opponent's errors. This led her to a tie-break, where she narrowly missed out by two points. Though gutted, she was happy that her change of strategy worked and pleased with her improvement in the second set. The doubles match was another epic that went to a championship tie-break, which the girls won and were over the moon with.
On 10th June, the 14&U boys travelled to Minchinhampton. This was a learning experience from the outset as they had to get to grips with the clay court. Sadly, it was not their day, but they fought to the very end and came away with some areas to work on for next time.
Well done to all our players who competed in team events.
