Jessica Ennis-Hill is a retired British track and field athlete who specialized in the heptathlon. Born in 1986 in Sheffield, England, Ennis-Hill began competing in athletics as a child and quickly showed great promise in a variety of events. She first gained international attention in 2006 when she won a bronze medal in the heptathlon at the Commonwealth Games, and over the next several years, she continued to dominate in the event. Ennis-Hill's greatest achievement came at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, where she won the gold medal in the heptathlon in front of a home crowd. She retired from athletics in 2016 with a long list of accolades, including multiple World Championship titles and the title of Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire.
